To reduce some of the fear that immigrant community is facing around the recent ICE raids in Placer County, we have collaborated with an immigration attorney, Sara Bobbitt, from the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services to host two Know Your Rights Legal Workshops in the Auburn and Roseville area during the first week of February. The presentations will be focused on what to do to prepare for a raid, your rights when encountering ICE, and what to if you do get arrested. Flyers are attached within this e-mail (in Spanish). Please spread this information widely!
–Tuesday, February 2 at 6:00 PM at Rock Creek Elementary School in Auburn, California
–Sunday, February 7th at 1:30 PM at St. Rose Catholic Church in Roseville, California
These raids being conducted in our neighborhoods are tearing families apart and are NOT representing what our great nation is all about.
Please share this information with families you know.
Our June 2015 General Membership meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2015.
We will be meeting from 10 AM until 12 noon.

Voter registration whenever we can!
So stop by and help us plan how we will be empowering Latino voters in our home towns over the next year. Your help can make the difference between electing representatives that help our community prosper, or stagnate.

Roseville Police Headquarters
1051 Junction Boulevard, Roseville, CA
The Place County Latino Democratic Club would like to announce that Roseville Police Chief Daniel Hahn will be meeting with us to discuss community outreach and relations.
This will be a great opportunity to meet Chief Hahn in a close setting and ask him any questions you may have regarding Roseville PD and their outreach to the people of Roseville, including the Latino community.
You may forward any questions you’d like to ask to the club and we will forward them to the Chief so that he may be prepared to answer your questions.
Please contact the club if you would like to attend. Don’t miss it! See you there!
I was filling out out club’s re-certification paperwork and I was a little shocked at just how much our club was able to accomplish last year.
Here’s a sampling of the events in which we participated:
Sierra College Political Awareness Day
Sierra College La Semana Latina Events
Manned a voting precinct in Roseville for the primary and general election
Manned a shift at the Placer County Fair for voter registration
Participated in several neighborhood voter registration walks
Contributed many, many hours in preparing the door hangers for voters
Participated in Placer Elections’ High School voter registration/ education events
Organized the float and marchers/clubs for the Roseville Clubs’ 4th of July float
Hosted a Winery luncheon / fundraiser
Held our annual Holiday dinner
Next year will be just as great.
The Placer County Fair is just a few weeks away.
Followed by the 4th of July parade just a week later.
We will always be looking for ways to continue our voter registration efforts.
Then we will again man a precinct in Roseville for the 2016 Primary and Presidential election.
There are several bills in the California legislature which will require our attention.
We hope to hold another Foothills winery luncheon and
We plan on holding another holiday party.
We plan on hosting our first September 16th celebration in Royer Park. (We’re just getting started in planning this. If you want to help plan this, now’s the time to let us know!)
If you would like to help us bring Latinos to the political forefront in Placer County, stop by our next meeting and join our club. There’s nothing as satisfying as knowing you’ve helped someone make a difference in their own future.
